Overview
The Financial Analyst role reports directly to the head of our Alternative and Private Investments (API) Department. The Financial Analyst supports the API Department in researching, underwriting, analyzing, and modeling potential investment opportunities across a number of industries, verticals, and geographies. This will include modeling, underwriting, and reporting on opportunities in both private operating companies and real estate investments, with a focus on growth and value-add strategies. Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting financial feasibility studies to deploy capital for potential investments in private equity operating company growth equity, recapitalization, and management buyouts as well as real estate acquisitions and developments.
- Support the development of financial models to analyze cash flow projections, deal structures, and investment returns.
- Perform sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate risk-adjusted returns and capital allocation strategies.
- Tracking against market trends, comparable financial statements, and economic indicators to support underwriting.
- Analyze cash flow, balance sheet, income statements, and other operating statements and assist in the preparation of performance variance reports.
- Provide critical data for investor and asset management dashboards and performance tracking tools.
- Assist in the creation of annual budgets, reforecasts, and variance analyses for the portfolio.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal stakeholders, lenders, and investors.
- Support the development of fund offering/investment memorandums and presentations for senior leadership and capital partners.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or Economics.
- 1-5 years of experience or equivalent in commercial banking, investment banking, private equity, real estate investment, asset management, or financial analysis (relevant internships count).
- Strong financial modeling and underwriting skills (Excel proficiency required). Analytical mindset with a detail-oriented approach to financial data and reporting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present findings to senior leadership. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred:
- MBA, CFA or other advanced financial degree;
- Experience in deploying capital into private equity and/or real estate development or acquisition investments.
- Familiarity with advanced financial modeling and asset management software (e.g., Excel, Argus, IMS/RealPage, or Yardi).
The Financial Analyst must also be able to travel periodically for site visits, investor meetings, and industry conferences. Regular in-office presence is expected combined with virtual cross-collaboration across multiple offices. Flexibility of in-office presence is available for priority situations. Preferred candidates would have flexibility to be located in greater Houston, Texas area or greater Milwaukee or Madison, Wisconsin area.
